Answer:

ln-10 is the expression represents the hull speed of the Santa Monica in terms of the length, ln of the nina pint

Explanation:

Here, ln represents the length of the Nina pinta

As per the statement: Suppose the Santa Monica has a hull length that is 10 ft shorter than that of the nina pinta.

"10 ft shorter than that length of Nina pinta" means
ln-10

then;

Length of Santa Monica is,
ln-10

Therefore, the expression represents the hull speed of the Santa Monica in terms of the length, ln of the nina pint is,
ln-10

If we represent the length of the nina pinta to be ln and that the hull length is 10 ft shorter, the hull length should be equal to ln - 10. This is only true if the ln (which is the expression for the length of nina pinta) is in feet also. Otherwise, there may be a need for us to convert first before proceeding with the subtraction.
