y = kx
from the info given k=2
hence when x=8 y=16

We know that when rwo quantities x and y are directly proportional , then the equation shows the direct proportional relationship between then is given by :-


(x_1)/(y_1)=(x_2)/(y_2)

Given: If y is 6 when x is 3 and y varies directly with x.

To find : y when x is 8

Substituting the given values in the equation , we get


(3)/(6)=(8)/(y)\\\\\Rightarrow\ y=(8*6)/(3)\\\\\Rightarrow\ y=16

Hence, the value of y = 16 , when x=8.
