1) Gregorian Calendar tells us we are 2017 years from the birth of Christ
2)Greek City States were in 800ish BCE meaning 2817 years ago-ish
3)I'd argue the roman senate patched the way for future democracy and Rome really developed what would be needed in the Renaissance
3) same 3 we have today
