Can someone explain to me how this problem is done? Thank you so much.

Julie is walking around a track at a 3.5m/s for some exercise. She then decides to start jogging so she accelerates at a rate of 0.25m/s^2 for 3.0 seconds. How far did Julie travel from the time she started to accelerate to the end of the 3.0 seconds?

Use the equation displacement=v(initial)-1/2at^2
v=velocity a=acceleration t=time
So displacement=3.5-(1/2)(.25)(3)^2= 2.375m

they should give you this equation on a sheet or something
hope this helps
