Any line that is parallel to another line will have the same slope. To find the equation us the formula:

(y - y_(1)) = m(x - x_(1))
m = 3

x_(1) = 4 y_(1) = -5
( y - -(5)) = 3(x - 4)
y + 5 = 3x - 12
y = 3x - 17
The equation for a line parallel to 3x - 8 and passes through the point (4, -5) is y = 3x - 17.

slope = 3
passing (4,-5)
y = mx + b
-5 = 3(4) + b
-5 = 12 +b
b = -17

equation
y = 3x - 17
