Will the opposite of a number always, sometimes, or never be greater than the number itself ? explain your reasoning.

The number will sometimes be greater.
If the original number is negative, then yes because the opposite number will be positive. If the original number is positive, then the opposite number will be negative, and will be less. Also if the number is 0, then the number is the same, as 0 = -0.
