A chef had to fill up 4/5 of a container with mashed potatoes. He ended up using 2 4/6 pounds of mashed potatoes how many pounds would he use if he had to fill up the entire container?

So what we are going to do first is to divide 2 4/6 by 4. So first we convert it into a mixed fraction and it is 16/6. Now, we divide this by 4 and the answer would be 16/24 or 2/3. This gives us the answer that per 1/5 of the container contains 2/3 pounds of mashed potatoes. Now, in to know how many pounds to fill the container, which just simply multiply 2/3 by 5 and the answer is 10/3 or 3 and 1/3 pounds. Hope this helps.
