Write the polynomial in standard form. Then name the polynomial based on its degree and number of terms.

2 – 11x2 – 8x + 6x 2
A. –5x2 – 8x + 2; quadratic trinomial
B. –5x2 – 8x; quadratic binomial
C. –6x2 – 8x – 2; cubic polynomial
D. 6x2 – 8x + 2; cubic trinomial

2- 11x2 - 8x + 6x2
= 6x2-11x2 -8x +2
= -5x2 - 8x + 2 A

Answer:

Option A that is
-5x^2-8x+2

Step-by-step explanation:

Standard form of polynomial means the exponents should be in decreasing order

Degree is the highest power or exponent of the variable in the polynomial

Here, highest power is 2 after that 1 and then 0

so, we will write term of exponent 2 first, then of exponent 1 and then zero

Hence,
-11x^2+6x^2-8x+2\\\\= -5x^2-8x+2

Being highest degree 2 this is the quadratic and total number of terms are three in the expression hence, quadratic trinomial

Therefore,
-5x^2-8x+2; quadratic trinomial is the correct option.
