what yo do is distribute first
a(b+c)=ab+ac
so

don't forget to distribute -1

-4(2x+3)=2x+6-1(8x+2)
-4(2x)-4(3)=2x+6-1(8x)-1(2)
-8x-12=2x+6-8x-2
-8x-12=2x-8x+6-2
-8x-12=-6x+4
add 8x to both sides
-12=2x+4
minus 4 both sides
-16=2x
divide both sides b 2
-8=x
