they say that writing is an underestimated art because you are painting colorful images in people's minds with words of black and white.

“There are no laws for the novel. There have never been, nor can there ever be.”
—Doris Lessing

“Style means the right word. The rest matters little.”
—Jules Renard

“Style is to forget all styles.”
—Jules Renard

“I do not over-intellectualise the production process. I try to keep it simple: Tell the story.”
—Tom Clancy, WD

What I am trying to say is that writing (whatever form its takes) gives you a sense of freedom by letting out your voice for everyone to see when none wants to listen. You can write whatever, however, and whenever you want. poetry to be specific is pain and experience in beautiful, well put disguise. I guarantee you that there is a poem that you can relate to anything in your life. It's like having the freedom to relate/live through a certain experience without really confronting it.

Poetry gives you the chance to speak what is on your heart and mind. Therefor you get to speak freely which would give a "Sense of freedom". Also you can speak creatively without having any boundaries.
