Domain of a function--

The domain of a function is the set of all the possible x -values of a function for which the function is defined.

and Range of a function--

Is the set of all the values which are attained by a function in it's domain.

By looking at the graph of a function we see that the function is defined for all the real values and in this domain the function attains a minimum values as -1.

The function is first strictly decreasing in the interval (-∞,1)

and then it is strictly increasing in the interval (1,∞).

Hence, the function receives all the value greater than or equal to -1.

i.e. The range of the function is: [-1,∞)
