The correct answer is A) The government should be for the common good.

The Mayflower Compact was an agreement made by Purtian men who were about to establish the Plymouth colony during the early part of the 17th century. This document was supposed to establishment a form of government in which all men contribute and act according to the interests of what is best for their entire society.

The writers of the Declaration of Independence used this idea when breaking away from Great Britain. The Declaration of Independence discussed how government should work for the common good of man, and that the British king and parliament were failing to do that for the American colonists.
