I think that the Blues music emerged as a main musical form since it is the most representative musical form for black American music. It reflected the struggle of black people to achieve success. It has been a response to social, economic rejection and repression. The rich history of the black American shaped the development of the Blues music - a true musical product of the black Americans.

ANSWER: In 1920s, when the Harlem Renaissance took place in New York, the musical form of African American became more attractive to Whites. White novelists, composers and dramatists started to exploit the tendencies and themes of African American in their works. The composers used poems written by the Black poets and started implementing the harmonies and melodies as well in their works such as Blues, Jazz and Spirituals. This is how the Blues became famous during the Harlem Renaissance.
