If the point (-1/2, y) lies on the line whose equation is 2x - 3y = 6, what is the value of y?

when x=-1/2, find y

sub -1/2 for x

2(-1/2)-3y=6
-1-3y=6
add 1 to both sides
-3y=7
divide both sides by -3
y=-7/3

the value of y is -7/3
