3/18 times 8/18 which would equal 24/324 when you reduce it it is 2/27

Answer: Probability of 12/103

Explanation:

The probability of choosing a dime first is: P(A) = 3/18

Because, there are 3 dimes and a total of 18 coins in the purse.

But, as she already took one coin, the probability of grabing a nickel will be: P(B) = 8/17.

This occurs because the events are dependents, in other words, one event influentiate the other event. So, as the probability is of A and B:

P = 3/18 · 8/17 = 24/206 = 12/103

So the probability is of 12/103 or 11.65%
