Answer: The hitting/catching a baseball are great example of an elastic collision and an inelastic collision.

Step-by-step explanation:

In an elastic collision, the conservation of the kinetic energy and the conservation of the momentum are conserved. Hitting a baseball is a great example of an elastic collision because it causes the baseball to move.

In an inelastic collision, the conservation of momentum is conserved but the kinetic energy is not conserved. Catching the baseball is a example of an inelastic collision because when the baseball collides with glove while catching the baseball. Then the baseball does not move.

Therefore, the hitting/catching a baseball are great example of an elastic collision and an inelastic collision.

There are majorly two types of collision, (1) inelastic collision and (2) elastic collision. When both the momentum and kinetic energy are conserved, the collision is of the second type and it is of the first type if only one of the two parameters or none of them is conserved. In hitting/catching a baseball, these two scenarios may occur.
