U have to make the denominators (bottom #s) equal. So make 1/2 into 3/6. then it would be 3/6-5/6=____... Im a sophomore so i havent done this in forever i hope its right...

You convert them both to the same denominator so get both of the fractions over 6
½ = 3/6
Then 3/6 - 5/6 = - 2/6
Because you just minus the two top numbers
So the answer is -2/6
