since it is a absolute value equation, you have to use plus of minus. so first, subtract the 5 from the absolute value. you are left with abs(7x-2)=-2 and make the -2 plus or minus and solve for both equations. 7x-2=2 and 7x-2=-2

7x-2+5=37x+-3=3
should be your answer unless i've done it incorrectly, in which case you should still check your work before using my answer.
