3) the dimensions of the rooms are 83 x 72 and 83 x 72, but the intersecting area is 10 x 51. so you have to find the areas of each room separately, then find the area of the intersecting and subtract it from one of the rooms. then add the total together.
83*72=5976 - 510 =5466 + 5976 = 11442 is total area
4) take the dimensions from each side, 6 x 12 and 6 x 12 and then the middle is 11 x 4
6*12(2) = 144 11*4= 44 total area is 188
