There are many ways in which a speaker might establish credibility in the eyes of his or her audience during wartime. The best thing a speaker can do in order to appear credible is to be able to use rhetorical devices effectively. Pathos, an appeal to emotion, and logos, an appeal to logic, are both very useful strategies to employ for this purpose. However, the best strategy to use would be ethos. Ethos refers to an appeal to credibility, and it is through this device that the speaker will be able to convince the audience. The speaker should mention his accomplishments, his expertise, his experiences related to war, etc. In this way, his audience will be convinced about the credibility of the speaker.
