What is the difference between malleability and ductility

Malleabillity is the quality of something that can be shaped into something else without breaking, like the malleabillity of clay. Malleabillity also called plasticity has to do with whether something can be molded.


Ductility is a solids materials ability to deform under tensile stress; this is often characterized by the materials ability to be stretched into wire.

*The difference between malleability and ductility is that malleability is the ability to deform easily upon the application of a compressive force, and ductility is doing the same with tensile force.
