7/8 - x = 1/6
7/8 - 1/6 = -x
42/48 - 8/48 = -x
(34/48) = -x
-34/48 = x
-34/48 = -17/24
17/24 gallons of the juice was consumed from Thursday to Friday.

First you need to get the same denominator
7/8 is equal to 21/24
1/6 is equal to 4/24
twenty one minus four is 17/24 which is the amount of juice that was drank.
