Ok lets start with 6 feet
if you cut 6 in half you get 3 feet, like 6-3 or 6 divided by 2. so now you have 3 feet
if you want to cut 3 in half you end up with 1.5 because half of 3 is 1.5 and 1.5+1.5 is 3.

Each piece will equal approximately 1.5 of a foot
