Answer:

If it takes 10 gallons to go 220 miles, then it would take one car 5 gallons to go 110 miles at the same rate. Then set up a proportion to find out how many gallons 5 cars would need at that rate:

x /5 = 5 /1

Cross multiply and you get that 5 cars would need 25 gallons.
