Quantum theory explains the nature and behavior of matter and energy on the atomic and subatomic level. Nature and behavior of matter and energy at this level is known as quantum physics and quantum mechanics.
Wave mechanics involves mathematical formulation of quantum mechanics in which the behavior of systems is described in terms of wave functions.
