a.
6(2 + n) = 16
n = 5
b.
6(2 + n) = 16

The answer is: [C]:
_____________________________________________________
"6 + 2n = 16 ;
n = 5 " .
______________________
Note: 6 + 2n = 16 ;
______________________________________________________
Subtract "6" from each side of the equation:
______________________________________________________
→ 6n + 2n − 6 = 16 − 6 ;
______________________________________________________
to get:
______________________________________________________
→ 2n = 10 ;
______________________________________________________
→ Now, divide EACH side of the equation by "2" ; to isolate "n" on EACH side of the equation; and to solve for "n" ;
______________________________________________________
→ 2n / 2 = 10 / 2 ;
______________________________________________________
to get:
→ n = 5 .

six more than: 6 + or + 6
twice a number: let n represent the unknown number: 2n

6 + 2n = 16

So, the answer is either c or d

So, solve the equation

Subtract 6 on both sides of the equation

2n=10

Divide by 2 on both sides of the equation

n=5

So, the answer is C
