Why is growth hormone not a tropic hormone?

Tropic hormones are hormones produced and secreted by the anterior pituitary, which target endocrine glands (eg Thyroid stimulating hormones, Luteinizing hormones.
Non-tropic hormones are hormones that directly stimulate target cells to induce effects. This is different from the tropic hormones in that tropic hormones bind a receptor on another endocrine gland.
