Since the city water workers begin filling it at a rate of 500 gallons per minute, in 25 minutes they'll have filled:

= 500 × 25

= 12500 gallons

It immediately begins sending some of its water into the city's water pipes at a rate of 150 gallons per minutes. In 25 minutes, they'll have sent:

= 150 × 25

= 3750 gallons

Amount that'll be left in the tank will be:

= 12500 - 3750

= 8750 gallons

b. Write an equation to find the number of gallons,y,in the storage facility after x minutes. This will be:

y = (500 × x ) - (150 × x)
