1:3 if you draw a diagonal line on the other side it would be divided by 3 and only 1 triangle is not shaded. I hoped this helped

A line that goes from the midpoint to the corner is half of a half. Does that make sense?

Draw an imaginary line down the center, where M is, and you will see.
