Answer:

Athens had a strong navy, was protected by walls, and positioned the city center on a high hill. Athens used ships to supply people with food, moved people inside the city walls for protection, allowed Spartans to destroy the countryside.

Sparta had a large army, known for great warriors, had only one way to be approached by land. Sparta wanted to fight a land battle, cut off food supplies, tried to draw Athenians out from behind the walls, attacked crops and destroyed farmland
