Make the whole number into a fraction 2= 2/1
2/1 times 3/1 = 6

For example if you have 1/2 * 5 you would do 1/2*5 = 1/2 + 1/2 + 1/2 + 1/2 + 1/2 = 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 / 2 = 5/2 (EXAMPLE BY KHAN ACADEMY) (khanacademy.org)
