In "The Road Not Taken" the meaning of the poem is about someone who has to choose between two paths. "In the Yellow Forest, he said two paths diverged," and the narrator is torn as to which path is the best choice.
The speaker's life is on the line. he must choose a path. He analyzes both streets. He then chose the less traveled one, claiming it made a difference.
The speaker is still analyzing his decision. He chose the path of non-conformity. he is a non-conformist. he traveled alone. The path he took had few distractions. Of course, the speaker should be happy with the path he has taken, but he is still contemplating the paths he has not taken. The speaker wonders what other paths might have held for him. In fact, the narrator declares that he will tell this story "for years" with a sigh. There seems to be some sadness on the part of the speaker about having to choose between two roads:
"Two roads diverged in the yellow forest
I'm sorry, I couldn't travel to both
And I couldn't be a traveler." For a long time, I stood
And looked down on one as far as I could
It writhed in the undergrowth. where;'
The speaker regrets not being able to travel both ways. He returns and chooses the other way. Truly life is a choice and that's what Street stands for - a choice.
Finally, the speaker realizes that he has taken a lesser-known path and that it has changed his life. Unfortunately, he sighs:
"Let's say this with a sigh. There was a difference."
