Answer:

1. We need to find two 1-digit factors that are multiplied to get a product between 40 and 50

So, let us first take one factor to be 5

Now, to make its product with the second factor between 40 an d 50, we take second factor to be 9

Now, 9 × 5 = 45

And, 40 ≤ 45 ≤ 50

Hence, The required two 1-digit factors are : 5 and 9

2. Number of Guinea pigs = 2

\text{Each Guinea pig eats }(1)/(4)\text{ cup of pellets a day}

\text{Hence, fraction of cup eaten by 2 Guinea pigs a day = }(1)/(4)* 2=(1)/(2)

A pound of Guinea pig pellets is about 3 cups of food

\bf\textbf{Number of days the pellets will last = }(3)/((1)/(2))\\\\=3* 2\\\\=6\:\:days
