How was life similar and/or different for American women before, during, and after the war? Did the war change the role of women in American society?

before: women rarely worked, were essentially housekeepers, took care of children from home etc.
during: women took a lot of the jobs that were left empty when the male workers were drafted
after: there were tensions when soldiers returned to find their jobs filled. many women wanted to keep their jobs, which helped accelerate the feminist ideas that fueled the women's suffrage movement.
