The freedom of African Americans and their equal rights. He was a main leader if the abolitionists along with William Lloyd Garrison

He was an abolotionist, meaning he was against slavery (being a slave himself). He read a narrative that has details and experiences from when he was a slave, I recommend reading that if you want to know more about it!
