Use the expression the problem gave. Let n equal the number of CDs Jim owns.
n=# of CDs Jim owns
5 less means subtract
2 times means multiply let Marcus = number of Marcus's CDs
Marcus=5-2n

Answer:

2n -5 is the expression which represents the number of CDs Marcus has

Explanation:

Given the statement: Jim has a number (n) of CDs in his collection.

⇒ Jim has a number of CDs in his collection = n

Also, it is given that Marcus has 5 less than 2 times the number of CDs Jim has.

"2 times the number of CDs Jim has" means 2n

"5 less than 2 times the number of CDs Jim has" means 2n -5

then;

Marcus has the number of CDs = 2n -5

Therefore, the expression which represents the number of CDs Marcus has ;
2n -5
