What must happen to the thermal energy of a substance during deposition? explain why

The thermal energy (heat) must go down, because for an example of deposition (DEPOSITion) with a cold soda if you leave it out it gets condensation, which is the gas-air-surrounding the cool soda cooling down and depositing itself onto the side of the can. So, thermal energy must decrease.
