The price of a new Sony sound system was $556, but is now marked 30% off. What is the price after the discount and 8% sales tax?

first take the discount which is 30% so 30% of 556 is $166.8 so subtract that from the total getting $389.20
then take the sales tax which is 8% so 8% of 389.20 is $31.14 so add that to the total getting $420.34

Total price: $420.34
