add 5x+3 both sides
x^2+5x+3=0
must use quadratic equation
for
ax^2+bx+c=0
x=
(-b+/- √(b^2-4ac) )/(2a)

given
1x^2+5x+3
a=1
b=5
c=3

x=
(-5+/- √(5^2-4(1)(3)) )/(2(1))
x=
(-5+/- √(25-12) )/(2)
x=
(-5+/- √(13) )/(2)

x=
(-5+ √(13) )/(2) or
(-5- √(13) )/(2)
