Historical conflicts due to the events that occurred in the past, but affect the present.

Structural conflicts are the external conflicts and are related to geographical areas, time, organizational changes.

There are five categories that can identify conflicts: (1) relationships; (2) values; (3) structural; (4) interest; (5) data

1. Conflicts identified from relationships are usually between family members or a special someone. This is usually caused by miscommunication, disagreement, and repetitive misbehavior.

2. Conflicts identified from values arise when two or more people, usually groups don't have the same personal values. This is caused by different interpretations of what is "right" and "wrong".

3. Structural conflicts are those that are caused by external forces like physical constraints, geographic constrains and the like.

4. Interest conflicts occur when two parties are competing to satisfy his needs. When two or more parties have the same interest and only one can be satisfied. Also, it can occur when two or more parties have different interests and are disagreeable.

5. Data conflicts occur when it involves information. When two or more parties cannot agree which data is relevant or irrelevant. It can also occur when data is lacking or one presents insufficient data.
