consecutive is 1 year apart
the ages aer
x,x+1,x+2,x+3
sum is 62
x+x+1+x+2+x+3=62
4x+6=62
minus 6 both sides
4x=56
divide both sides by 4
x=14
oldest friend is x+3
x+3=14+3=17
oldest friend is 17
