Answer: 0.14 cm

Explanation:

Given : A geologist noticed that land along a fault line moved 24.8 centimeters over the past 175 years.

i.e. Total distance covered = 24.8 centimeters

Total time taken= 175 years

We assume that the a land moved equal distance in each year.

Now, the distance moved in each year will be :-

\frac{\text{Total distance covered}}{\text{Total time taken}}\\\\=(24.8)/(175)\\\\=(248)/(1750)\\\\=0.141714285714\ \text{ centimeters}\\\\\approx0.14\ \text{ centimeters}

Therefore , On average, the land moved 0.14 cm each year.
