(-2 - 4y)*(-8)
(-8)(-2 - 4y)
(-8)*(-2) -8*(-4y) Note: - * - = +
16 + 32y

Use distributive property:
(-2*-8)+(-4y-8)
(remember that when 2 negative numbers are multiplied together it becomes positive.
