The perimeter of a triangle is 140 inches. If one side of the triangle is 13 more than the shortest side, and the longest side is 31 more than the shortest side, find the lengths of the three sides?

Let the shortest side be x.

one side is 13 more than the shortest = x + 13

Longest is 31 more than the shortest = x + 31

Perimeter of triangle = 140

x + x + 13 + x + 31 = 140

3x + 44 = 140

3x = 140 - 44

3x = 96

x = 96/3

x = 32

Shortest side, x = 32

Other side = x + 13 = 32 + 13 = 45

Longest side = x + 31 = 63

Side 1 = 32 inches

Side 2 = 45 inches

Side 3 = 63 inches

I hope this helped.
