#5 Question:

Oscar received an expense report. He learned that he was $500 under budget. How much did he spend if his budget was $2500.

#5 Solution:

$2500 - $500 = $ spent.
$2000 = $ spent.

Bonus Question:
f(x) = 38x + 10x - 3; x = 2
Bonus Solution:
Subtitute 2 for all the x's.

f(2) = 38(2) + 10(2) - 3
divide both sides by 2:
f(2)/2 = 38(2) + 10(2)/2 - 3
f = 38(2) + 10 - 3
f = 76 + 10 - 3
f = 86 - 3
f = 83.
So therefore f = 83.

Oscar's budget is 2500. So if he is 500 under budget....2500 - 500 = 2000....so he spent 2000
=====================
f(x) = 38x + 10x - 3...when x = 2...so simply sub in 2 everywhere there is an x
f(2) = 38(2) + 10(2) - 3
f(2) = 76 + 20 - 3
f(2) = 93 <==
