In Emily Dickinson's poem "The Wind Begun to Rock the Grass" there's an enjambment between lines 16 and 17

"And then as if the Hands
That held the Dams had parted hold"
Is this a strong enjambment? and what is its purpose here?

The answer is yes, and it's purpose is to make you understand that it was as if she had been let go.
