The number 5 should be distributed because it's being multiplied by (x-4) anyways, and it's the closest to it.

You should distribute 5 to (x-4) because you need to solve from left to right wich equals 5x-20+2x-3.Then after that combine like terms wich is 5x and 2x wich is 7x the combine -20and -3 wich is -23 and your answer is 7x-23
