When multiplying like bases with different exponents, such as x^y*x^z, you add the exponents, so the x^y*x^z would equal x^(y+z). In your case, your
2^3*2^3*2^(-4)=2^(3+3+(-4))=2^(3+3-4)=2^(6-4)=2^2=4.
