In 197 BC, in Hispania (or the Iberian Peninsula), the Romans established their first provinces. It took a long time to conquest the rest of the peninsula. It was completed in 9 BC. Hispania became an important part of the Roman Empire where the Roman families settled there. Olive production thrived and Hispania was the biggest supplier of the vast quantity of olive oil which was consumed in the city of Rome. And there were other things and improvements in the place.
