Starting from his early childhood where he had 16 siblings, Benjamin Franklin learned to live independently, went to school by himself. When he stopped formal schooling, he worked in his father's shop, this was also another experience where he had to work and help his father which developed a sense of responsibility. Another experience was when his brother mistreated him while he was his apprentice and was able to escape and again lived on his own. Having a hard time growing up must have been the reason why Benjamin Franklin became "Benjamin Franklin".
